To Start

As an SEO experiment, I, Sameer, set up a new website on July 1, 2014, and periodically posted short articles about home maintenance on it. If you want how long does SEO take to work for a new website so completely read this article.

Of course with unique and new content. More than this I have not done; I have not used any online marketing campaigns such as requesting external links to this website, promotion via social media, or any other means of making the website known to others.

I did have the website indexed and crawled by Google in Google Search Console (formerly Google Webmaster Tools).

With this, I ensure that the content of the website is included in the index of the search engine (by the way, if you want to know what the URL is of the website, send me a private message ).

The Strategy: Micro-Moments

I chose the topics of the articles based on my own questions about home maintenance. What would I find interesting to read advice about?

So no in-depth keyword research, but just common sense. In fact, you focus on micro-moments; moments when potential leads need information that you can tell a lot about. How do I install something? Which product is the best choice?

And Then…

Once the website was ready (last article on November 26, 2014), I noticed in myself the same impatient feeling as many others with their own website.

Every day I checked Google Analytics to see if there were already visitors to my new website. I also googled the title myself, to see what the search result looks like and whether I am properly indexed in Google.

I enthusiastically checked the visitor statistics at first daily, then weekly, then three weekly.

While I was not impressed by the slow growth of organic visitors in the beginning, after six months I saw an increase in organic visitor numbers every month, with the ultimate peak in April 2015.

Of course, I kept posting new articles, because of course, I wanted more organic visitors every month. In addition, I am curious when an article or the entire website is picked up by another website so that I will get even more visitors.

Until now, visitors have come in purely through Google through the content.
